Slow-fashion apparel brand built around Indian forms. Two seasonal collections a year + small capsule drops. Cut for real bodies (XS-XXL), made in our Tilak Nagar workshop. Delhi-based, India-rooted, no fast fashion. · Delhi
One-off project. Akar's manufacturing happens at a small workshop in Tilak Nagar — 6 tailors, 2 patternmakers, a cutter, and the master tailor who's been with us since day one. We want a proper photo essay of how the clothes actually get made.
What we need:
- 2 days at the workshop, mostly observational, no styling, no posing
- Documentary photography style — close-up on hands, fabric, the sewing machine, the cutter's chalk lines, fittings on first samples
- Portraits of each maker (with their consent — we'll handle release forms)
- 60-80 final edited images organized by chapter (cutting / sewing / finishing / fitting / portraits)
- We'll use these across the site, the lookbook print intro, IG, and a small printed zine we mail with first orders
Style references:
- Stéphane Lavoué's Brittany artisan work
- Indian docs: anything Ketaki Sheth or Karam Puri has done on traditional craft
- Warm, available-light, faces visible, technical detail visible
Timeline: 4 weeks from kickoff to delivery. Half upfront, half on delivery. You retain personal portfolio rights; we get unlimited brand use.

Reels creator — wear + show Akar's drops (Delhi, ongoing)
Looking for ONE creator (or a small pair) to wear + showcase Akar pieces in IG Reels every month. Different from "influencer ad partnership" because we want one recurring voice across the year, not a parade of one-off paid-posts.
What you'd do per month:
- 2 Reels wearing 1-2 Akar pieces each
- Real settings — your weekend, your work day, your dinner — not staged "look at the brand" lifestyle
- 60-90s, audio-led, "what I wore + why" first-person voiceover style
- Post on your own grid (we cross-post to ours), tag Akar, link in caption
What we provide:
- The garments to keep after the year (~12-15 pieces total — yours to wear post-partnership)
- Monthly retainer + per-Reel fee
- Co-credit in our seasonal lookbook posts
What we want:
- Real Delhi audience, 10K+ IG, women's-fashion-aware following
- "I'd wear this anyway" voice — we'd rather pass on a high-follower creator who feels off-brand
- Comfortable with our slow-fashion premise (our pieces are not the next trend)
- Commitment for 12 months — short partnerships read as transactional, and that's not what we sell
Pitch: 2-3 examples of "I wore this and posted about it" content + your IG handle.

Stylist — pre-production styling for Akar lookbooks (Delhi)
Akar's looking for a stylist to own pre-production styling across our seasonal lookbooks + capsule drops. Not "celebrity stylist" energy. More: the person who pulls the right inner layers, the unexpected accessory, the second-skin that makes a garment read on camera.
What you'd own per shoot:
- Read the collection brief + look-by-look intent we send
- Pull complementary inners + accessories (we have a stock cupboard, you supplement from your kit + Delhi rental network)
- On-shoot styling — present on day, adjusting between looks
- Continuity notes for the e-comm shoot that follows the lookbook
What we want:
- Strong India-aesthetic literacy — you know what a Bandhej dupatta does next to a stiff cotton dress; you know when to NOT add an accessory
- Comfortable with non-celebrity bodies + first-time models
- 2-3 collections you've styled visible in your portfolio
- Day-rate-based, you bring your own kit + we cover Delhi rental costs
Trial: we'll send you a 6-look brief from our archive + your direction. Half hour call after.
Separate from our lookbook work, Akar needs steady e-comm catalogue photography for every garment we list on the site. This is the unglamorous-but-critical side of fashion content — the shot a buyer actually looks at before adding to cart.
What you'd shoot per garment:
- 4 angles flat (front / back / detail / fabric texture macro)
- 4 angles on body (front / 3/4 / back / detail) — we provide the model
- Consistent lighting + crop across the catalogue. We send you our style guide and a calibration card.
Volume: ~15-25 garments per drop, 5-7 drops a year. Most efficient as 1-day batched shoots in our workshop or your studio.
What we want:
- Comfortable with clean cyclorama OR styled-on-mannequin OR ghost-mannequin — we'll discuss what works for each garment
- Reliable colour calibration (we lose returns when the on-screen colour misses real)
- 48-72h turnaround on edited finals
If you're a lookbook photographer who hates e-comm work, this isn't for you and that's fine. We're looking for someone who likes the precision of catalogue work.

Fit models — open call for Akar's seasonal shoots (Delhi)
Akar's looking for 4-6 fit models to work our seasonal lookbook shoots + ongoing e-comm refreshes. We're building a small recurring roster — once you're in, you're called for every relevant drop.
Open call. Specifically looking for diverse body shapes — we're a slow-fashion brand and our garments are cut for real Indian bodies, not a single sample size. We need fit on:
- Women: sizes XS through XXL (5'2"-5'10"). We do NOT have a height/weight cap.
- Men: sizes S through XXL (5'7"-6'2").
- Non-binary / fluid presentations welcome — we cut a small genderless line every season.
What the work looks like:
- 1-2 shoot days per collection drop (5-7 drops a year)
- ₹4-6K per half-day, ₹8-12K per full day depending on usage
- Lookbook usage (web + print + brand IG) included; paid-media usage extra
- We work in Lado Sarai / our Tilak Nagar workshop / Delhi rooftops
What we need from you in your pitch:
- 4-6 recent portraits in different outfits (mirror selfies fine — we want to see how you carry clothes, not see your hair retouched)
- Your height + bust/waist/hip measurements (or chest/waist for men)
- Whether you have prior shoot experience (not required — we work with first-timers regularly)
If your body type isn't currently on our roster + your photos show poise, you're in.
Akar drops two collections a year — a Summer/Monsoon and an Autumn/Winter — plus 4-5 small capsule drops in between. Each one needs a 1-2 day lookbook shoot, mix of studio + on-location across Delhi.
What you'd do per collection:
- One studio day (we hire a space in Lado Sarai or similar) — 6-10 looks, clean grey-paper backdrop, mostly natural light
- One on-location day — Delhi rooftops, market alleys, the workshop in Tilak Nagar. The location is half the image.
- 12-15 final edited images per look (full body + detail + 1-2 motion)
- Both color + considered B&W variants for editorial use
Vibe references:
- Vasantha Yogananthan's Indian work
- The Goya catalogues — moody, slow, considered
- Bandit's lookbooks; the way Lo-Five Studio shoots small Indian fashion
- NOT: white-cyclorama e-comm shots, NOT: heavily-Lightroom-preset Insta fashion
Delhi-based, you bring crew (assistant + 1 light if needed). Models + stylist provided separately (we have separate briefs out for those — happy to pair you with our regulars on production).
